Welcome to the Rebel Buddhist™ Podcast, where I help you free your mind so you can free your life. This podcast is for the rebellious ones. The wild people. I share my stories and what I’ve learned about being a rebel soul who wants to tame her mind…but not her life. It’s led to plenty of adventures and misadventures. I’ve learned tons of tools that combine Buddhist psychology, real-world mindfulness, cognitive coaching, and modern brain science – sort of like if Buddhism and science had a love child. I want to share them with you as we walk this path together. I’m not sharing this as a dharma teacher, but as a fellow practitioner with some street cred. Welcome to my world.

Ep. 179: Medicine for These Times

In this week’s episode we’ll talk about the medicine we can use for these times of intense suffering in the world. Our planet is literally – and figuratively – on fire, and the current crisis in Israel and Gaza, as well as other parts of the world with ongoing war and displaced peoples and genocide, has heightened this awareness. While our natural instinct might be to harden our hearts, numb out / dissociate, or spiral into a state of hopelessness, this episode dives into what we can do to soften our hearts toward moments of fear and anger so we can stay present with the wholeness of reality, including the achingly beautiful parts. I’ll open up about my recent journey in Oregon and my realizations that an armored heart doesn’t protect us like we think it does. Plus, I’ll discuss what we can do to access true internal refuge instead.
